(If NOT take Kanji courses, you do not need to take this test.) The Waseda CJL Standards for Japanese Language Education describe the targets for each level of the Japanese language education for international students provided by the Waseda University Center for Japanese Language (CJL) from the perspective of what the learner can do in Japanese. There are nine levels from 0 to 8. Besides the CJL level check test, we also recommend you refer to the CJL Standards and choose courses that fit your level of study. Ex.) CJL Standards Abridged version (for learners of Japanese) ※Please note that in some theme courses, the level of CJL Standards may not necessarily match the class level. Vocabulary skills. ― 43 ―― 43 ―“CJL Level Check Test” is a web-based test that is used to determine your Japanese proficiency level (according to Waseda’s standard). Japanese Language courses are categorized by levels. Please choose your courses based on your test score. Your CJL Level Check Test score reflects your Japanese Level as determined by Waseda standards, and resulting score cannot be compared with those of other universities/schools or with other test. e.g.) Your CJL Level Check Test score cannot be compared to the results of the JLPT.
