Faculty/ Researchers Up to 8 credits per semester ― ― ― Ａ．Maximum Number of Credits for Registration There is a limit to the number of credits you can register for Japanese language courses per semester, so please register for courses within this limit. CJL students and Non-degree students from other schools are required to take at least 10 hours(※) of courses per week in order to maintain their Student VISA. (Courses are not limited to Japanese language courses.) ・The required hours for Japanese language courses differs by your school. Please contact yourschool office or the Center of International Education to confirm how many courses you need totake. ※10 hours (600min.)／100min. per class period = 6 class periods per week. Case A) If you earn 13 credits in the 1st semester In the 2nd semester, you can register for up to 14 credits of courses offered by CJL. Therefore, if you earn 13 or 14 credits, you will fulfill the completion requirement. 1st semester: 13 credits ＋ 2nd semester: 14 credits or 13 credits ≧ 26 credits Case B) If you earn 12 credits in the 1st semester In the 2nd semester, you can register for up to 14 credits of courses offered by CJL. Therefore, if you earn all 14 credits, you will fulfill the completion requirement. 1st semester: 12 credits ＋ 2nd semester: 14 credits = 26 credits Case C) If you earn 11 credits in the 1st semester In the 2nd semester, you can only register for up to 14 credits of courses offered by CJL. Therefore, even if you earn all 14 credits, you will not be able to fulfill the completion requirement. 1st semester: 11 credits ＋ 2nd semester: 14 credits < 26 credits ※Caution It is possible to obtain mora than 14 credits (up to 18 credits) by registering for "日本語教育科目" offered by the Global Education Center (GEC) in addition to the CJL courses in the 2nd semester, but please consider carefully when registering for these courses, as it could be difficult for those who are not confident in their Japanese to keep up with the lessons. Completion Requirements for CJL Students (One-Year Program) Basically CJL students who are enrolled in the One-Year program must earn at least 12 credits in the 1st semester to meet the completion requirement (Acquired 26 credits). *1: Previous courses from which you were unable to earn credits will not be counted. *2: The credits you earn from other schools / centers are not counted towards the completion of your program.
